How can a website help my business?
There are a number of important things a website can do for your business:
- Provide a valuable resource for your customers, available 24 hours a day
- Increase exposure beyond your local market
- Gives the impression of a modern, healthy business
- Keep your customers up-to-date with event reminders, etc.
- Bring in instant, direct sales
Most businesses could use a website, and it's relatively inexpensive compared to other forms of advertising. Even better, a website stays online permanently, not fleeting before your target market's eyes like a TV ad. Contact us to find out how a website could benefit your business specifically.
What are your rates?
Our rates vary depending on which service we're charging for, but we choose not to publish them online to protect out clients' interests. Feel free to contact us to find out our rates, and to get a specific quote for your project.
How quickly can it be done?
Every site is different, but our work is generally finished very quickly, available well ahead of schedule. A small website may take as little as a week to design and build, while a larger site will take more than a month.
Where do I start?
For someone who's new to the website-making process, this can be a daunting question. There are a few things that are necessary for every website:
- Hosting - This is where the files that make up your site are stored
- Domain Name - The unique identity of your site: http://www.703designs.com/ is a domain
- Bandwidth - Essentially the connection from your site to a customer's computer. Included with hosting
- Content - What 99% your users will come to your site for
- Design - A site needs to be easy to use and accessible to compete
- Development - This provides any dynamic features found on a website, and is only necessary for certain sites
This may sound like a lot, but three of those (Hosting, Domain, Bandwidth) are very easy to set up, and Development isn't always necessary. We can provide all of these services except for the Content, which is what you provide. Examples of content include articles, photographs (not intended for design), etc.
It isn't necessary that you have all of your content prepared before we begin making a website, but the more you have, the easier it will be to design the site and the quicker the site will be finished.
What technologies do you use?
We are skilled with the following technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, XML, and XSLT. We build our more complex dynamic websites with the excellent Drupal content management system, which itself is based on PHP.
Our HTML and CSS skills are flexible, and we can integrate designs with most types of applications, whether they're based on ASP.NET, PHP, Java, or another server-side language.
For graphics, we prefer to work with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
